The need for managers in business who can face the growing complexities and challenges is growing in the country. Business is now conducted in the context of growing globalization in a highly competitive word. In recognition of this need the Pacific University has established the Department of Business Administration to provide education for future mangers in the fast-changing word.
The department is committed to education of young men and women with potential to meet the challenges of the modern time in business. The mission of the Department is to provide all round education to international standard so that they could face the emerging competitive world with ability and confidence. It aims at becoming a leading institution in providing best possible resources. Supporting facilities and expertise so as to impart first rate education to potential managers in business. The mission of the Department in short is to develop quality education programs for successful careers of its students.
The Department of Business Administration is one of the founding and the largest Department of the University. It has about 2000 (Two thousand) students and 64 highly qualified extremely dedicated vastly experienced faculty members. Among them, 34 full time and 30 Adjunct faculty. The Department has also been hiring business executives from the corporate word to teach students real life cases.
The Department offers 3 important degree Programs:
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) 126 credits.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) 63 Credit
- Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) 51 Credits
The Department offers 4 Majors in BBA and 4 Majors in MBA/EMBA Programs, those are Accounting and Information System (AIS), Human Resource Management (HRM), Finance and Banking (F&B), and Marketing (MKT). Research & teaching are the prime of objectives of this department. The curriculum encourages students to sharpen their analytical and communication skills, focus on building leadership abilities, which will allow future managers to operate effectively in an increasingly growing global and technologically advanced market place.

The Executive MBA Program has been designed to upgrade knowledge and skills of students to international standards. The aim of the program is to provide competence to cope with changes at home and challenges of the global market.
Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management
Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, a professional program in its own identity, was solidified as an international academic discipline in 1840s. The modern idea of tourism and hospitality management was influenced by the medieval period of 12th and 17th century during the industrial revolution. Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. However still it lacks qualified human resources to handle the increasing influx of visitors. Therefore, this program has been designed to suit high demand of tourism professionals to provide quality services in the sector.
Tourism and hospitality management holds a central place in official, academic and popular discourses in the world. As such, a comprehensive and representative understanding of the role and significance of tourism and hospitality management continues to be a major gap particularly in the context of developing countries. The need for such capabilities for tourism and hospitality management practitioners in the developing countries can best be imparted through this well packaged program of Pacific University.
The Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management program aims at building a student’s ability in intellectual and practical fields of tourism and hospitality professionals. This program also provides extensive technical and managerial skills in the field of business and tourism industry. The main objective of this program is to provide skilled and efficient executives to serve tourism and hospitality industry of Bangladesh as well as international market, especially Europe.
Duration of program:
4 years of bachelor program is designed with 132 credits where we engage industry experts from different tourism and hospitality sectors to share their valuable experience with our students which aid them to cope up with current trends and practices of tourism and hospitality sector. The whole program is designed focusing on theoretical and practical parts to develop students’ skills in both the fields’ parallel.
This program is spread over two semesters in a year where a semester consists of 24 weeks duration with 30 to 36 (thirty to thirty six) credits in total.
Entry Requirements:
Admission requirements for Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management (BTHM) Program:
- Minimum GPA 2.50 both in S. S. C. and H. S. C. or GPA 6.00 for both examinations in aggregate and not less than 2.50 in any of S. C. and H. S. C or same in Bangladesh. ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level students: 5 subjects in O level and 2 subjects in A level where grade B in at least 4 subjects and grade C in remaining subjects.
- For the children of freedom fighters aggregate CGPA of S.S.C and H.S.C or equivalent examinations are 5.
- Credit transfer is also allowed from recognized accredited institutes.
